MULTIPLE RESEARCH PATHWAYS LAB

Welcome to our lab website! Our lab conducts research relating to Neurobehavioral functioning. Given the diverse interests of our team, there are many pathways that we examine. The primary investigator is Julian David-Drori. Look below to learn more about what projects we’re working on right now!

 Our Current Projects

Hand Discomfort in Developmental Dysgraphia: Currently, our lab is one of the only ones in the country doing research on development in Dysgraphia. Developmental Dysgraphia, also known as specific learning disability, in written expression, is not well researched. However, this study six to add a new symptom to the literature, hand pain. While many individuals with this disorder, experience hand pain, it’s not part of the diagnostic symptoms. Click on the provided link to access the study.

BEHAVIORAL ASSESSMENT SCALE FOR CHILDREN 4th Edition (BASC-4): In conjuntion with Pearson, the makers of the BASC, we are working to norm the newest version to a wider and more diverse population than ever before!

Childhood Sexual Assault as a Predictor of Adult Sexual Dysfunction and Adult Mental Health Issues in South Asian American Adults: The current study will examine if childhood sexual assault is correlated with adult sexual dysfunction and mental health related issues in South Asian American adults. We will draw on data from 100 participants from a South Asian American Counseling Center in New York City. We will rely on correlational research and will control for low socioeconomic status in childhood, mental health issues in childhood, hormonal imbalances, and prostate problems. We will use regression analysis to see the strength of the association between childhood sexual assault and adult sexual dysfunction, as well as childhood sexual assault and mental health related issues. In general, we expect to find that childhood sexual assault is strongly positively correlated with adult sexual dysfunction and adult mental health related issues in South Asian American adults. The results of this study may add to the field because it is the first study to examine the association between childhood sexual assault, sexual dysfunction and mental health related issues in this certain population. It is an important issue for the population because they are at a higher risk for sexual assault, and it is imperative that they are being represented in the literature.
